Ylenia Deriu, Goliathus regius, elitre II
Ylenia Deriu’s “Goliathus regius, elitre II” is a brooch part of Elitre, a project of contemporary jewelry born in a Natural History Museum and inspired by the elytra of the beetles. Goliathus regius lives in equatorial Africa and is one of the largest beetles in the world: in fact it can reach up to 11 cm in length. The characteristic spotted surface of its elytra favors mimicry by imitating the pattern of light and shadow through the thick of the forest environment.
