Ylenia Deriu, Entimus nobilis, macro
Ylenia Deriu’s “Entimus nobilis, macro” is a brooch part of Elitre, a project of contemporary jewelry born in a Natural History Museum and inspired by the elytra of the beetles. Entimus nobilis is a beetle who lives exclusively in Brazil. Its elytra are black and their surface is characterized by concave pits with opalescent scales inside. These scales are formed by photonic crystals that reflect the light in shades of green, allowing the insect to blend in with the foliage.
