Ylenia Deriu’s “Carabus Coriaceus” earrings are part of Elitre, a project of contemporary jewelry born in a Natural History Museum and inspired by the elytra of the beetles. Carabus coriaceus is a species of beetle primarily found in deciduous forests and mixed forests. With its 30-40 mm in length, it is one of the largest land beetles in Central Europe. The chitin exoskeleton is black and wrinkled on the elytra.
